Greeneville, TN – Get ready for a day of fun, music, and fireworks as the Town of Greeneville proudly announces the 12th Annual American Downtown Celebration on Saturday, June 29th, at the picturesque Big Spring in Bicentennial Park. With festivities planned for the Saturday on or before July 4th, organizers expect record-breaking attendance for this beloved community event.
The excitement kicks off at 4 p.m. with live music, a kids’ zone, and a variety of food vendors. As the sun sets, the festivities ramp up with a thrilling hot dog eating contest, a nighttime parade, and a breathtaking fireworks display. This free, family-friendly event is the perfect way to celebrate Independence Day.
Entertainment Lineup: Starting with the upbeat, patriotic tunes of the Greeneville Community Swing Band, the event will feature an eclectic mix of music to keep everyone dancing. Brownlow will take the stage next, blending heavy rock with outlaw country and blues. Following them, Fritz & Co. will deliver a high-energy rock and roll show. The headliners, The Great Big Hug, will cap off the night with their powerful roots rock and blues fusion.
“We are expecting lots of smiles, and hopefully some dancing, to this great rock and roots music lineup,” said event organizer Christina Potts.
Parade: This year’s parade theme, “Thank You for Your Service,” honors active and veteran military members, as well as first responders. The parade begins at 9 p.m. at Towne Square Shopping Center and will make its way through downtown, ending at Greeneville High School. The parade will feature a variety of entries, including marching bands, floats, classic cars, and more. The grand finale will be a spectacular fireworks show launching from the hill behind Burley Stadium.
Christina Potts, Town of Greeneville Media/Marketing Specialist, encourages participants to “decorate your entries in red, white, and blue, with bright lights to show your gratitude for our military and first responders.”
There is no entry fee for parade participants, but registration is required by Friday, June 21st. Sign up online at: https://www.greenevilletn.gov/forms/parade-entry-form
For safety, the parade route will be closed to through traffic from 8 p.m. until the end of the fireworks show. Street parking along the route will be restricted starting at midnight on Saturday. For those who choose to park in lots along Main Street from Church to Tusculum Boulevard, please be aware that those areas will be the last allowed to leave. There could be a delay of 30 to 45 minutes after the fireworks show until exiting.
