The Town of Greeneville and the Greeneville Police Department proudly announce the promotion of Administrative Lieutenant Joshua Pierce to Uniformed Services Captain. Pierce has been with GPD for 15 years, two of those years as Patrol Sargeant and six as Patrol/Administrative Lieutenant.
Pierce stated, “I am excited for the opportunity to serve in this new capacity, and I look forward to working with the team to make a positive impact for our community.”
Pierce received his Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from East Tennessee State University, following that up with a Master of Science in Criminal Justice from the University of Cincinnati. He graduated from the FBI National Academy (275th Session) in 2019. Other accomplishments include Field Training Manager; Level 3 Leadership Certificate from the Tennessee Association of Chiefs of Police (TACP); Member of the Professional Standards Committee for TACP; Municipal Management Academy Level 2; Fleet Management, Extra Duty Management, Day to Day Operations.
During his tenure with the Greeneville Police Department, Pierce has been heavily involved with the department’s accreditation process through the Tennessee Association of Chiefs of Police. In his new role, one area of responsibility will be leading the Student Resource Officers (SRO).
Chief Steve Spano commented, “I’m glad to see him be promoted to Captain. There is no one more deserving. I look forward to seeing what he can accomplish in the future.”
Pierce’s promotion was officially recognized in a ceremony in Judge Kenneth Bailey’s Greene County Courtroom on January 30th, 2024.
