Speed Hump

The Town of Greeneville and the Greeneville Police Department would like to inform the public of several speed humps that will be placed on local streets. There has been a noticed increase in cars using the streets to avoid major roads, cutting through residential neighborhoods. Town citizens have reported speeds on these streets that are not safe for residents, especially children.

Each of these streets will have one to two speed humps placed in strategic areas by the Town of Greeneville Public Works department: Carson Street, Forest Street, Housley Avenue, Austin Street, Davis Street, North Sunset Street, Wesley Avenue, South Lake Street, Railroad Street, Lynn Avenue, Scenic Drive, Grandview Drive, Parkway (Oak Hills), Oak Grove Road, New Hope Road, and Sun Valley Drive. This list includes the highest priority streets. Additional streets needing speed humps will be identified in the future.

This project has been made possible with support from The Safety First Grant Program from Norfolk Southern. This grant is designed to promote overall community safety across Norfolk Southern’s 22-state network. This program is intended to support organizations that directly provide safety services or operate programs that promote safe behavior.

Norfolk Southern values its relationship with first responders and established the Safety- First program, in part, to recognize and support such groups.
